As summer slips into fall and winter hovers on the horizon, travel enters its sweetest season: the shoulder. Airfares dip, beaches clear, and everyone takes a collective breath after the rush of summer. Brazil is no exception. Known for its 4,655 miles of coastline, the vast Amazon, and the energy of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, the country rarely feels uncrowded. But in Ipojuca, a smaller coastal town in Pernambuco, tranquility can still be found. And it’s highlighted in Airbnb’s fall 2025 travel trends report as an under the radar coastal towns on the rise this shoulder season.
Here, beaches like Porto de Galinhas, which is known for its clear natural tide pools, and Praia de Muro Alto, with a lagoon protected by an offshore reef, offer a gentler alternative to Brazil’s better-known stretches of sand. Between September and November, the weather leans sunnier, the rains lighten, and the crowds have yet to arrive in force.
One of Ipojuca’s hidden gems is an Airbnb located right on Praia de Muro Alto. The beach’s calm waters are steps from the Airbnb’s swimming pool and the outdoor patio leading to an air-conditioned interior. Called the “Bangalo Ecoara Residence,” the Airbnb can house up to nine people. The three-bedroom, three-bath bungalow has one of the best locations in the Praia de Muro Alto area—and one of the best reputations in the region. At the time of writing, it holds a near perfect 4.98 rating out of a possible five, earning it “guest favorite” recognition. It’s also run by an Airbnb “superhost.”
The area around the bungalow is perfect for beach lovers who want to spot wildlife and enjoy playing in pristine, gentle water. Thanks to its offshore protective reef, the waters of Praia de Muro Alto feel more like a serene lagoon—making it a great choice for families, snorkelers, and beginner paddleboarders and kayakers.
Just 10 minutes down the coast is Porto de Galinhas, which is widely considered one of the best beaches in Brazil. Like those of Praia de Muro Alto, the waters of Porto de Galinhas tend to be still because of the natural pools formed by the surrounding reef. The crystal-clear water also makes it easy to spot marine life.
Beyond the beach, the Ipojuca area has great hiking, including the Trilha das Marisqueiras, which is just steps away from the Bangalo Ecoara Residence Airbnb.
The closest airport to Ipojuca is Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport (REC). From the airport it is a 50-minute drive south to Praia de Muro Alto, where the Airbnb is located. Most travelers rent a car, but you can also make the journey from Recife to Ipojuca in a taxi or Uber.
