Living in the Pacific Northwest, I learned a long time ago that the key to making it through the dark and rainy cold season is to fully embrace it. For me, fall is all about making things as cozy as possible, and that includes the clothes and shoes I wear when I go outside. So when I saw the ReEmber Camp Slip-ons from Teva, I was intriguedârugged outdoor shoes that look and feel like slippers? You canât ask for anything cozier than that.Â
After wearing these slip-ons throughout Washington and Oregon, I can say these expertly blend functionality and comfort in a way I rarely see in footwear. Think of them as a step up (pun intended) from a standard outdoor slipper. Plus, theyâre a whopping 50 percent off right now for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.Â

I wore the Teva ReEmber slip-ons for the first time on a mushroom foraging trip in Central Oregon. I quickly learned that the outing would involve traipsing through muddy forest floors and climbing over slippery logs and blackberry bushes still wet from rain earlier that day. As we stood at the edge of the forest, I thought, Iâm wearing slippers.Â

My hesitation was unwarranted, however, as these shoes were more than up to the challenge. The sole is made from sturdy rubber thatâs thick enough to protect the bottom of your feet without feeling heavy or bulky. The rubber is also well-textured, creating some of the best traction Iâve ever experienced on wet surfaces.Â
The inner footbed is moderately cushioned to give a slipper feel while still offering a bit of stability. The upper is mostly made of a puffy, quilted material thatâs comfortable and provides plenty of warmth, plus protection from moderate moisture thanks to a water-resistant coating. The Teva shoes also feature a collapsible heel made from a felt-like material that is soft and cozy. I love that the flexible heel material means I can turn these from shoes to slip-ons without needing to fiddle with any straps, buckles, or zippers.Â

After my trip to Oregon, I decided to wear the Teva ReEmber shoes on my two flights home, and they proved to be just as useful in airports and airplanes as they are in the woods. The support and cushioning kept me comfortable while walking through my terminals, while still making me feel like I had found a cheat code to wear slippers in public. The collapsible heel also came in handy while going through securityâI have TSA Precheck, so I donât have to remove my shoes, but on this day, I was selected for a random screening that required me to put my shoes through the scanner. Inconvenient, yes, but not too bad considering I could slip these on and off in just a few seconds.Â
Some reviewers have reported problems with sizing, as these Teva shoes are not offered in half sizes. I typically wear a size 8.5 and opted to get these in a size 9, and they fit perfectly, so I recommend sizing up if you are between sizes. There is one strap across the top that can be tightened to give these a snug fit, and I found this easy to use and effective enough to prevent these shoes from sliding off my feet.
Theyâre not shoes I would wear all day (i.e., sightseeing in the city), but theyâre great for short bursts, like airport journeys and evening strolls. Made with camping in mind, they would make a perfect gift for an outdoorsy person who wants a versatile shoe they can wear from the campsite to the airport to the backyard.

The Teva ReEmber Camp Slip-ons come in five colors and 10 sizes. Theyâre also available in menâs sizes. Tevaâs ReEmber line has three other varieties of this shoe as well, if you like the idea but want a tweak in the design. You can also purchase the ReEmber Terrain Slip-on (similar to a clog), the ReEmber Terrain Mid Boot (a bootie style), and the ReEmber Mid Platform Boot (a bootie with a lifted platform).Â
As a carry-on-only traveler, I love shoes that perform double- (or triple-) duty. The Teva ReEmber Camp Slip-ons are one of my favorite finds of the year because they are just as useful in the airport as they are in the woods. Theyâre comfortable, warm, and have impressive traction on wet and dry surfaces. Iâll be wearing them year-round, whether Iâm chilling at a campsite or in a seat during takeoff. Lots of other Teva shoes are on sale for Black Friday, tooâhere are some of my favorite picks from the brand below.Â
