There are some things that work in Las Vegas that don’t make sense anywhere else.

Take Seven Magic Mountains.

The outdoor art installation — towering stacks of boulders covered in neon paint in the middle of a vast desert — was supposed to be up for two years (2016-2018) but almost a decade later, it’s still drawing visitors every day.

It’s a surreal contrast with Nevada’s dusty landscape and a quick side trip for anyone looking for unique photo ops outside of The Strip.

Best of all: it’s free. Rumor has it, the installation will stay put for several more years, perhaps until May 31, 2027.

If you’re in Las Vegas and you don’t make the 21 mile trip to the outskirts of town, you’re missing out on one of the most unique artworks you’ll ever see.

This art installation is just one example of how Las Vegas blends entertainment, spectacle, and novelty into one irresistible cocktail. From nostalgic headliners New Kids on the Block (through February 2028) to high-stakes showdowns like the World Series of Poker (through July 16, 2025) and eye‑popping architecture, Las Vegas thrives by surprising and delighting.

These days, the city is doubling down on immersive experiences that speak directly to our phones and social feeds. They’re designed to hook crowds with TikTok- and Instagrammable moments.

Las Vegas understands that the next generation of tourists craves more than roulette wheels and buffet lines. Visitors want to participate in the magic, and Vegas is always happy to roll out the red carpet.

Seven Magic Mountains has been drawing visitors out to the desert outside Las Vegas for almost a decade, even though it was only supposed to exist for two years.

“Selfie Studio: The Color Theory Tour” arrives with a burst of color

This summer, the Strip gets a vibrant upgrade. Starting Friday, July 18 and running through Wednesday, August 20, Selfie Studio: The Color Theory Tour lands at Fashion Show Las Vegas.

Hosted in The Great Hall, the installation offers eight art‑inspired sets. Like Seven Magic Mountains, it’s free, making it an accessible must‑see for both tourists and locals, as reported in the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Created by Atlanta’s NGK Agency, the pop‑up uses the Pantone color system to explore how hues shape mood and personality. Visitors begin with a quick Color Personality Quiz (which they can take on-site or online ahead of time) and then jump into rainbow rooms designed to reflect their chosen shade.

The immersive color washes, bold backdrops, and striking installations are perfect for portrait shots. Whether you’re peering through tinted portals or posing amid contrasting palettes, every angle is made to pop on social media.

What is new in Las Vegas and what’s coming soon?

There are also many other non-gaming attractions in Sin City right now, or coming soon:

  • Museum of Selfies. Although not brand new, this permanent, interactive installation continues to attract selfie‑hunting crowds. It features rooms like an Upside‑Down Room, Emoji Pool, Gold Bath, Optical Illusion Bathroom, and Light‑Bulbs Infinity Room. For tourists craving photo‑ready scenes with minimal effort, it’s become a go‑to stop.
  • Selfie Wrld. This “DIY selfie studio and museum” offers 20+ eye‑catching booths, ring lights, and TikTok‑friendly backdrops. Reviews boast “complimentary ring lights for lighting perfection” and high praise for staff assistance per tripadvisor.com.
  • AREA15’s Wink World et al. This arts‑meets‑immersive‑fun complex continues to introduce new themed rooms, glow‑in‑the‑dark corridors, and interactive art pieces, ensuring repeat visits pay off with fresh photo ops.
  • • Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens + Fountains. A Vegas classic but forever popular, the botanical displays here rotate by season with highly curated design, while the famous fountain shows remain a surefire backdrop for elegant selfies.

With pop‑ups like Selfie Studio: The Color Theory Tour (July 18–August 20), selfie museums, and bold public art, Las Vegas is showing that new attractions and social media‑ready experiences are a way to draw people in.
