Memorial Day typically brings three things to mind for most folks.
Firstly, it’s thought of as a great reason to thank any of your military family and friends for their service and for being such tremendously brave human beings.

Second, it’s a great reason to fire up the grill, invite some friends over, and simply enjoy a Monday where we can all relax instead of clocking in at work.
On top of all that, Memorial Day sales are a top-tier reason to whip out your wallet and snap up some amazing sales. Retailers tend to compete fiercely to capture shoppers’ attention today, so if you’re savvy, you can likely find some incredible deals on whatever you may need.

With all of that said, if you’re considering a DIY project on your extra day off, you may be wondering if The Home Depot is open. Before you head over there to check it out, here’s a few tips you may need to know.
Is The Home Depot open on Memorial Day?
Yes, Home Depot (HD)  is open regular hours today, despite it being a federal holiday. But one thing’s certainly different from the usual Home Depot visit: the sales.
As usual, Home Depot will offer both in-store and online sales this year. The sale extends through Memorial Day and continues through Wednesday, May 28, while a few special offers extend until June 4, such as the chain’s deal on 40% off appliances.

What stores are open Memorial Day 2025?
Since Memorial Day sales are so competitive for retailers, many other major chains are open today as well, including Walmart, Target, CVS, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, and Walgreens. It should be noted, however, that CVS and Walgreens pharmacies will be closed today.
Most grocery stores you rely on will also be open, including Kroger, Publix, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Sam’s Club, and Sprouts. So good news if you forgot to buy hot dog buns for today’s barbecue — you still can.
