Celebrity Cruises Cancels All Stops in This Caribbean Destination Through 2026, Citing Safety Concerns

Popular cruise line Celebrity Cruises will skip stops in Haiti on several of its sailings throughout 2025 and 2026.

In total, Celebrity has updated 11 different itineraries to skip the Caribbean destination of Labadee, Haiti, on the northern coast of the country. This mostly affects sailings on the Celebrity Apex and the Celebrity Beyond.

“To provide you with a better experience, we have made the decision to cancel our visit to Labadee, Haiti,” the cruise line wrote on one updated itinerary for a February 2026 sailing on the Celebrity Apex. That stop will instead be replaced with a visit to Turks and Caicos. Other cruises will replace the stop with visits to Grand Cayman or Cozumel in Mexico.

Celebrity Cruises has communicated the changes with passengers set to board the upcoming sailings. A full listing of itinerary updates is available on Celebrity’s website.

Before the cancellation, Celebrity Cruises offered 28 different shore excursions in Labadee ranging from snorkeling to coastal cruises, fishing, ziplining, and more. Labadee was a common stop on many of Celebrity’s cruises that also stopped in Key West and in the Bahamas, including trips that stopped at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day At CocoCay.

Labadee is a private destination owned by Royal Caribbean and is only reachable by ship, according to the cruise line. Both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are owned by the larger umbrella company the Royal Caribbean Group.

The country of Haiti is currently under a Level Four travel advisory issued by the United States Department of State. The advisory, which was re-issued in July with additional guidance, is the highest level available, warning Americans to “not travel” there.

“Haiti has been under a State of Emergency since March 2024,” the State Department wrote in its advisory. “Crimes involving firearms are common in Haiti. They include robbery, carjackings, sexual assault, and kidnappings for ransom. Do not travel to Haiti for any reason.”

The agency warned kidnapping was “widespread,” and said gunfire exchanges have occurred in the neighborhood just outside Port-au-Prince’s international airport.

Celebrity’s itinerary changes come weeks after Royal Caribbean similarly canceled upcoming visits to Labadee, Haiti, through April 2026. The company had initially paused visits to the destination before extending that pause.

At the time, Royal Caribbean told Travel + Leisure in a statement the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” and said the company was “communicating with our guests directly.”
